This is text that will be displayed in place of the image gallery if a viewers javascript has been disabled or flash player is well out of date.

Search engines will see this text even if viewers aren't likely to, so its a good chance to ramble on using keywords more frequently than you would in the standard page copy.

Explaining what was in the pictures is also a good way to ensure you're using lots of relevent keywords. A picture tells a thousand words but the search engines only see the text.
